Cost coverage of the pill and IUD for endometriosis
A diagnosis of endometriosis often brings with it many challenges – not least when it comes to covering the costs of treatment. For those affected, the pill or a hormonal coil can be an important part of treatment. Health insurance companies usually cover the costs for these, but approval is sometimes difficult.
We would like to inform and support you so that you are well prepared. You will find a file in the download area that contains all the important information.
Support with the claim:

If you feel that you have been treated poorly in human or medical terms
– How to get support
If you feel that you have not been treated correctly, respectfully or medically appropriately in a hospital, there are various independent contact points available to you. These support you in lodging complaints, clarifying grievances or securing your rights as a patient.
Complaints offices in hospitals
Many hospitals have their own complaints or ombudsman’s offices that you can and should contact directly.
Patient representatives in each federal state
In all federal states there are patient representativesthat will support you if there are problems with treatment or care in a local hospital.
Example: Patient representation in Upper Austria https://www.land-oberoesterreich.gv.at/38917.htm .
Social insurance ombudsman’s offices
The insurance institutions also have ombudsman offices that deal with problems and concerns of insured persons and patients. Complaints can be addressed directly to the responsible office.

Patient advocacy groups – independent help for patients
There is a patient advocate in every federal state for the concerns and rights of patients.
The patient advocates are:
– independent ombudsmen
– free from instructions
– bound to secrecy
They represent the rights of patients vis-à-vis:
– public and private hospitals
– Doctors in private practice (in most federal states)
– nursing homes
They provide support in the event of complaints, mediate in conflicts and help to enforce claims.

Patient compensation fund
If someone has suffered an injury in a public or non-profit hospital, they can apply for compensation from the Patient Compensation Fund under certain conditions.
– The procedure is conducted by the Patient Advocate’s Office.
– It is free of charge.
Why these points are important
Conflicts can arise in the relationship between patient and doctor. As patients are faced with a complex system of experts, they are often in a weaker position. The patient and care advocacy groups were therefore set up to provide trustworthy, independent support and to protect patients’ rights.
