Five years after the premiere of *nicht die regel”<\/strong><\/a><\/em> , the documentary<\/strong> returns to theaters\u2014and there\u2019s more! To mark the anniversary, director Ranya Schauenstein is organizing the first Austrian Endometriosis Film Festival<\/strong>. The program includes the documentary as well as the artistic short film \u201cHysterical Sisters\u201d<\/strong> (Chiara Schreder, 2021), which is also celebrating its anniversary. \u201cEndometriosis has gained a lot of awareness over the past five years, but many aspects related to the condition remain hidden. On this evening, we want to explore these perspectives,\u201d says Ranya Schauenstein. <\/p>\n In addition to the two disease-awareness films, the chronic condition endometriosis is examined not only from a medical perspective but also from the perspectives of labor and social law. In doing so, the film *Endometriosis 2021* brought endometriosis out of the shadows for the first time. The film was produced by a nine-person team of people living with endometriosis, for people living with endometriosis. With overwhelming feedback from patients and extensive international media coverage, the film<\/em> has encouraged many<\/em> affected individuals<\/em>, debunked myths, and raised social awareness. In addition to Germany and Switzerland, screenings were also held in South Tyrol. About Hysterical Sisters:<\/strong><\/p>\n “Hysterical Sisters” is <\/em>an artistic short film by Austrian director Chiara Schreder that raises awareness about adenomyosis and endometriosis. Through a fusion of dance, music, and spoken word, the film gives voice to the physical and emotional struggles of millions of people affected by these conditions. The personified \u201chysterical sisters\u201d symbolize chronic pain, isolation, and societal prejudices. On an abstract, symbolic level, the film makes the effects of these conditions tangible through its poetic visual language.
